La pêche de la morue, qui fut source de nombreux conflits et traités, fut en outre soumise au cours des siècles aux variations et rigueurs du climat, aux événements de société, à l'évolution technologique des armements.
Cet ouvrage replace cette grande activité économique qu'à été la pêche de la morue au cours des siècles passés, dans son contexte climatique et humain. Cette synthèse, issue de la reconstitution de séries chronologiques de captures, permettra d'évoquer le rôle des divers facteurs qui sont intervenus sur les pêches. Nous avons choisi, comme cadre chronologique de ce travail, l'année 1500 correspondant au début des explorations et l'année 1950, date conventionnelle de la fin de la pêche traditionnelle de la morue.

The intention of advances in morphogenesis is to help to link up the various branches of biology that deal with development. It will seek to do this by discussing topics of current interest, in a form hoped to be intelligible to a wider circle than the author's immediate colleagues.The diversity of morphogenesis thus conceived is very great, but not so great that the different branches cannot learn from each other.
It is hoped that the mutual stimulation will encourage the synthesis of some much-needed general ideas about mechanisms of development, which when successfully framed will surely begin the next great advance in biology.
The first volume contains nine chapters, which are presented as follows:
chapter 1: a chemical approach to the problem of the organizer;
chapter 2: the embryology of ascidians;
chapter 3: regeneration of vertebrate appendages;
chapter 4: action of morphostatic substance and the role of proteases in regenerating tissues and in Tumour Cells;
chapter 5: determining factors in Cell growth: some implications for morphogenesis is plants;
chapter 6: the differentiation of vertebrates pigment cells;
chapter 7: limb morphogenesis;
chapter 8: morphogenesis of the vertebrate eye;
chapter 9: structural and dynamic aspects of the development of the teleostean egg.

Génie des procédés - Opérations unitaires de séparations mécaniques des milieux diphasiques en chimie décrit les opérations de séparation mécanique fréquemment rencontrées dans l'industrie chimique et les industries connexes telles que la décantation, la filtration, la centrifugation, la fluidisation, le dépoussiérage, le dévésiculage et les techniques membranaires.
Cet ouvrage est organisé en trois parties. Les notions théoriques nécessaires au choix d'un procédé sont développées en première partie. Ces techniques sont ensuite illustrées par 85 exercices résolus, inspirés de la pratique industrielle, puis par l'exploitation de résultats expérimentaux obtenus dans certaines opérations.

This is volume one of a three volume set.
The shore protection manual is in three volumes.
Volume I describes the physical environment in the coastal zone starting with an introduction of coastal engineering, continuing with discussions of mechanics of wave motion, wave and water level predictions, and finally littoral processes.
Volume II translates the interaction of the physical environment and coastal structures into design parameters for use in the solution of coastal engineering problems. It discusses planning, analysis, structural features, and structural design as related to physical factors, and shows an example of a coastal engineering problem which utilizes the technical content of material presented in all three volumes.
Volume III contains four appendixes including a glossary of coastal engineering terms, a list of symbols, tables and plates, and a subject index.

The major portion of this fourth volume is devoted to a review of aspects of respiration, circulation, and properties of the blood in fishes. There is a chapter on the role of the swim bladder as a hydrostatic organ and another on the effects of hydrostatic pressure on animal function. The swim bladder presents a fascinating example of the special organization of the circulatory system to meet a particular functional demand, in this case the secretion of gases against large concentration gradients. Some recent developments in the understanding of how gases are secreted into the swim bladder are reported. Volume IV:

There is a clear need for readily available, up to the minute authoritative statements on the advances being made both in the classical and the modern fields of botanical research and these volumes are presented with the intention of providing for this need. Microbiologie pratique pour le laboratoire d'analyses ou de contrôle sanitaire concilie la théorie et la pratique grâce à sa conception originale en deux parties :
la première partie présente tout ce qu'il faut savoir pour équiper et conduire un laboratoire aujourd'hui : conception, fonctionnement, sécurité, réglementation, matériel, milieux de cultures classiques, chromogéniques..., méthodes de travail, d'isolement et d'identification des bactéries...
la deuxième partie traite de microbiologie appliquée et expose les méthodes d'analyse et de contrôle des principaux micro-organismes (dans les eaux, les aliments, les produits cosmétiques et pharmaceutiques...) : habitats, classifications, caractères principaux et/ou spécifiques, isolement avec milieux de culture récents, identification sur galeries api®, surveillance, épidémiologie.
