This book is the first of two volumes of the "atlas of marine plankton. Straits of magellan". It constitutes an important contribution to the study of the faunal assemblages of the area where the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans mix, and is designed to allow a rapid identification of the described 45 species, 18 of which are new for the region.
This volume deals with the copepods, their taxonomy, spatial distribution and abundances. It also provides background data on their physical and biological environment. Emphasis is given to illustrations - most of them high-quality scanning electron micrographs plus drawings -, accompanied by brief taxonomic descriptions.
